dauerhaftigkeit, suffizienz und schönheit als basis einer zukunftsfähigen architektur

wir freuen uns sehr unsere haltung von nachhaltiger architektur im rahmen der biennale architettura 2025 im historischen palazzo mora präsentieren zu dürfen.

seit 2012 organisiert das europäische kulturzentrum ecc die ausstellung time space existence, welche die grundlegenden, philosophischen konzepte von zeit, raum und existenz erforscht und eine vielfältige gruppe aus teilnehmern verschiedener disziplinen zusammenbringt. die aktuelle ausgabe der ausstellung untersucht die dringlichkeit von reparatur, regeneration und wiederverwendung in der architektur. themen, welche die arbeit unsers büros, seit jahren prägen.

wir zeigen in venedig anhand von drei ausgewählten projekten, dass ein perspektivischer wandel zum erhalt und zum respektvollen umgang bei der weiterverwendung historischer bausubstanz genauso essenziell ist wie die einbindung kreislauffähiger materialien bei der gestaltung von neubauprojekten.

bildungszentrum logl

das „bildungszentrum logl“ in weil der stadt thematisiert einen erzählerischen entwurfsansatz, der sich konsequent an den die süddeutsche kulturlandschaft prägenden, historischen feldscheunen orientiert. die nutzung der gesamten bandbreite des traditionellen wie auch des industriellen holzbaus, die poetische neuinterpretation der tradierten vorbilder und die identitätsstiftende formensprache machen dieses haus beispielhaft und bilden die grundlage zur auszeichnung mit dem holzbaupreis baden- württemberg 2024.

alte kelter

bei der sanierung der „alten kelter“ in kirchheim am neckar stehen der erhalt der denkmalgeschützten bausubstanz und die würdigung der historischen schichten im vordergrund. zielsetzung war, bei dem respektvollen umgang mit der substanz, die reiche patina der oberflächen zu erhalten und ein konzept zu realisieren, welches ein manifest an suffizienz darstellt – weglassen als prinzip und die bewusste entscheidung den raum so zu erhalten, dass er die immer gleiche geschichte weitererzählt, lediglich aufgewertet durch minimale eingriffe und punktuelle ergänzungen.

wildpark pforzheim

initiiert durch den förderverein des wildparks pforzheim wird gerade in diesen monaten das neue besucherzentrum als kollektiver erlebnisraum, welcher sich in die erzählerische themenwelt der aufwendig gestalteten wildgehege einfügt, realisiert.
der ort dient als zentraler treffpunkt wie auch als sozialer kommunikationsraum. ausgehend von der archaik der gehege wird die assoziative anlehnung an die typologie und organisation der urdörfer indigener völker zum leitbild der entwurfsidee. dem entsprechend werden die gebäude mit analogen materialien der umgebung gefügt. lehm, ton, stein, sand und holz bilden den mix der dauerhaften konstruktion. ein ort, welcher langlebigkeit und vertrautheit ausstrahlt und seiner funktion als schutzbau gerecht wird.

die durch das architekturbüro gewählten themenschwerpunkte innerhalb der ausgestellten projekte vermitteln wegweisend einen ansatz von nachhaltiger architektur, welche beispielhaft aufzeigt, dass zukunftsweisende lösungen gerade auch in tradierten werten und haltungen wie erhalt, pflege, entwicklung, reduktion, reparatur, qualität, einfachheit, bescheidenheit, verzicht… zu finden sind.

venice

durability, sufficiency and beauty as the foundation of future-proof architecture

we are very pleased to present our approach to sustainable architecture as part of the biennale architettura 2025 in the historic palazzo mora.

since 2012, the european cultural centre ecc has been organizing the exhibition time space existence, which explores the fundamental philosophical concepts of time, space and existence and brings together a diverse group of participants from various disciplines. the current edition of the exhibition examines the urgency of repair, regeneration and reuse in architecture. these are themes that have shaped the work of our studio for many years.

in venice, we are showing three selected projects to illustrate that a shift in perspective towards preservation and respectful transformation of historic structures is just as essential as the use of circular materials in the design of new buildings.

bildungszentrum logl

the “bildungszentrum logl” in weil der stadt reflects a narrative design approach that is consistently oriented towards the historical field barns which characterize the cultural landscape of southern germany. the use of both traditional and industrial timber construction methods, the poetic reinterpretation of traditional archetypes and the identity-forming architectural language make this building exemplary and were the basis for the baden-württemberg timber construction award 2024.

alte kelter

in the renovation of the “alte kelter” in kirchheim am neckar, the focus was on the preservation of the listed building fabric and the appreciation of its historical layers. the aim was to preserve the rich patina of the surfaces through a respectful treatment of the structure and to realize a concept that serves as a manifesto of sufficiency – reduction as a principle and a conscious decision to retain the space in a way that continues the same story, enhanced only through minimal interventions and selective additions.

wildpark pforzheim

initiated by the wildpark pforzheim support association, the new visitor centre is currently being realized as a collective space of experience that integrates into the narrative world of the elaborately designed animal enclosures. the site serves as a central meeting point and social communication space. inspired by the archaic qualities of the enclosures, the design draws associative references to the typology and organization of original villages of indigenous cultures. accordingly, the buildings are constructed using analogue materials from the surrounding environment. clay, earth, stone, sand and wood form the composition of the durable construction. it is a place that radiates longevity and familiarity and fulfils its function as a protective structure.

the themes selected by the architecture studio for the exhibited projects represent a guiding approach to sustainable architecture. they demonstrate that future-oriented solutions can be found in traditional values and attitudes such as preservation, care, development, reduction, repair, quality, simplicity, humility and restraint.
